Those experiencing any of the above symptoms of COVID-19 should get an individual test. Poplar Healthcare offers convenient drive-thru testing for individuals experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, or those with exposure to the virus.

Who should get a
COVID-19 test?

  • People who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.
  • People who have had close contact (within 6 feet for 15 minutes or more) with someone confirmed to have COVID-19.

Because both flu and COVID-19 have similar symptoms, it may be hard to tell the difference between them based on symptoms alone, and testing may be needed to help confirm a diagnosis.

What do I do if I decide
I need COVID-19 testing?

Poplar Healthcare provides convenient, drive-thru testing at no out-of-pocket cost. Simply enter your insurance information during registration, and your insurance will be billed for the cost of your test.

If you do decide to get tested, you should self-quarantine/isolate at home pending test results and follow the advice of your health care provider or a public health professional.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a cost for COVID-19 testing?

There is no cost to those experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, or with recent exposure to someone confirmed positive for the virus. Poplar Healthcare will bill the patient’s insurance for the cost of the test, or the government uninsured program for those without health insurance.

How long does it take to get results?

Results are available in approximately 24-48 hours from the time the specimens are received in the lab. Each individual will be notified, via email, when results are available. The email will include simple instructions on how to retrieve the result.

Does Poplar Healthcare report test results to public health authorities?

Yes. We will report all COVID-19 results, both positive and negative, to the appropriate public health agency.

Do you supply the swabs and tubes for testing?

Yes. Poplar Healthcare provides all of the necessary supplies for COVID-19 testing.

Do you require the “deep” swab?

We almost exclusively use nasal swabs, and an anterior nares specimen collection in our drive-thru, which only requires the swab to enter approximately 1 cm or 1/2 inch into the nostril. That means no “deep” swab for COVID-19 testing. However, we can perform a nasopharyngeal specimen collection upon request.

What type of COVID test do you offer?

We exclusively offer the RT-PCR test at Poplar Healthcare, and can process specimens on multiple platforms.
